The Generative Mind

Tools for seeing what a piece of writing does to your thinking.

Some writing leaves you with more to think about. Some makes a conclusion feel settled before you’ve had a chance to look at it. The Generative Mind tried to point out which was happening, passage by passage.

It started as a way to detect manipulation. That meant guessing at the writer’s intent, so it shifted to the writing itself: whether it opened ideas up or closed them down.

It showed its reasoning next to the passage so you could disagree with it. It became analysis tools, a browser extension, and a Telegram bot, and was later tried as QuantaRead. It’s archived now.
